Blogthings - Do You Need to Lose Weight?

December 1st, 2006 by er-ortal

You Are Extremely Thin

Your BMI is 16.8 - a healthy BMI falls between 18.5 and 25

You definitely don’t need to lose weight.
In fact, you need to gain some weight to ensure you’re healthy.
So go ahead and pig out!

Don’t agree? Blame the government standards we based this test on!

Stuck on my head: Stars by Callalily

I’ve noticed na nawawalan na ng originality ang generation na ‘to when it comes to music. Remakes, remixes, samples, whatever! Though I dig some of the stuff, I’m afraid baka tama mom ko after all na 10 years from now, yung songs nung time nila pa rin ang magiging pop standards. I can’t imagine people singing songs nina Usher, Nelly, Beyonce (or whoever sa league nila) sa mga videoke (or kung ano man ang magiging counterpart nito 10 years in the future).

Nwayz, more than lack of originality in many of today’s songs, mukhang nawawalan na rin ng originality when it comes to song titles. I came up with my own list of song titles shared by two or more artists (songs with same titles but with different melodies; thus, remakes are not counted). Kung hindi nyo pa rin ma-gets, just read on! (And feel free to correct me or add to my list… =) )

Stars - Simply Red, Switchfoot, Callalily (the song SOMH right now!)

Crazy - Aerosmith, Alanis Morissette, K-Ci and Jojo, Dream, Javier, Simple Plan, Gnarls Barkley, Britney Spears (’coz yung title talaga ng song is (You Drive Me) Crazy)

For You I Will - Monica, Teddy Geiger

For You - Staind, Kenny Latimore, The Calling

True - Spandau Ballet, Ryan Cabrera, MC Buff

Without You - Charlie Wilson, Same Same (feat. Lovi)

Because of You - Keith Martin, Kelly Clarkson

Gone - *NSYNC, Kelly Clarkson

Addicted - Simple Plan, Enrique Iglesias, Kelly Clarkson

Shut Up - Kelly Osbourne, Simple Plan, Black Eyed Peas, Nick Lachey

I Love You - Faith Evans, Lovi

Collide - Dishwalla, Velcro, Howie Day

Alive - Jennifer Lopez, Frio

Jeepney - Spongecola, Kala

Stay - Lisa Loeb, Cueshe

Sorry - Moonstar 88, Madonna, Cueshe

Ulan - Rivermaya, Cueshe

One - U2 (sampled by Lighthouse Family in their 2001 hit ‘Free/One’, then remade by Mary J. Blige and U2 just this year), Heart Evangelista (siyanga!)

When I’m Gone - Three Doors Down, Eminem

Everytime - a1, Britney Spears

Evergreen - Barbra Streisand (sampled by the rap group Salbakuta in their 2002 hit ‘S2pid Luv’), Westlife

We Belong Together - Mariah Carey, Gavin DeGraw

It’s Over - Vertical Horizon, Cherry Cornflakes

Invisible - Clay Aiken, Ashlee Simpson

Girlfriend - B2K, Alicia Keys, *NSYNC (with Nelly)

Girl - Destiny’s Child, Paul Wall

Happy - Lighthouse Family, Ashanti, Alexia (yung song that can’t get out of one’s head noong kasikatan ng ‘Meteor Graden’ and ginamit rin ng ABS-CBN sa Station Id nila)

Cry - Michael Jackson, Mandy Moore, Faith Hill

Breathe - Faith Hill, Michelle Branch, Blu Cantrell (feat. Sean Paul), Telepopmusik

Beautiful - Christina Aguilera, Snoop Dogg (feat. Pharell Williams and Charlie Wilson)

hinihingal…

June 13th, 2006 by er-ortal

Stuck on my head:

* that song by Pupil and Barbie Almalbis (which goes like "Nakakaaliw… Nakakabaliw"),

* Walang Kadala-dala by Sandwich,

* and that (drum roll please!) dance move by Maoui David in the Close-Up commercial while "Smile at Me" by Rocksteddy is playing in the background.

Segue way: Maoui, for that, nakuha mo attention ko. Crush na kita! =)

Anyway, hinihingal ako right now. I spent the entire morning walking ’round Makati, my future playground! I ate breakfast with my Mom and Dad wherelse but in Jollibee-Villar (which is across Citibank, which houses my future office). Then I accompanied my mom to her office (Sagittarius Bldg.) before dropping by Citibank to get the list of pre-employment requirements. I returned to my Mom’s office to "strategize" before proceeding to HealthMed, which is across Makati Med, to have my physical examination.

Producing enough urine for lab purposes was somewhat an ordeal. I had to get out of the building (HealthMed is in the 8th floor) and proceed to the nearest 7-eleven to buy a 500 mL bottle of Summit, to no avail. Anyway, the lady in the reception was somewhat considerate…

Fast forward to an hour and a half later, I went my way to meet my Dad for us to have lunch. Of course, you know the power of having parents who "just got paid" - free lunch! My Dad and I ate on the 9th floor of Philamlife Tower. I had a chesse pizza (a not-that-faint resemblance to that of Sbarro’s), a succulent bread (I think it’s got olive oil in it.) and a generous portion of spicy anchovies pasta. Yum!

After that treat c/o Dad, I went with him to the nearest BPI branch to pay for my Mom’s credit card, only to see him leave me alone. Nonetheless, I stood in line to hand over those fresh bills (think of more than 2 dozens of Ninoy) to the multitasking teller. Anyway, the guard greeted me with his usual "Thank you, sir!" before finding my way back here in my mom’s Most Holy Place (an inside joke among us Ortal siblings).

I’m just unwinding in front of her PC and am about to check PMs from people who cared enough to send me one. And in a little while, I’m dropping by Greenbelt 1 to buy 3 tickets for my Mom and her friends who are somewhat eager to check out "The Lake House." Hmmm… Whatever!

ganito pala ang feeling…

June 9th, 2006 by er-ortal

Stuck on my head: none

Finally, I landed a job. I’m gonna start on June 20 sa Pointwest Technologies, an IT company dun sa 5th floor ng Citibank near Valero in Makati. I’m now an official Makati boy, hahaha!

I’m gonna start as a Software Engineer trainee. I have daw 2.5 months of training and eventually I will become a Software Quality Assurance analyst. I’m excited! I’m rarin’ to go and get started. Woohoo! Thank you LORD for keeping a door open para makapasok ako.

Kaya siguro walang tune na nakaka-LSS right now kasi my mind is filled with prayers of thankfulness, of how GOD has really led me through the valleys and peaks of job hunting. May I glorify HIM with the works of my hand.
